Baji is a Denver based rock band, who, like so many others had their humble beginnings in a basement. It started out as naiveté, four guys with instruments taking their best shot at musical creativity. But as the hours of jamming passed, there was a buzz; an unspoken realization that something was being created. A silent humming of a catchy melody and re-creation of guitar solos on air guitar solidified the legitimacy of the music to each of its member’s minds. They decided to do something. This something was a trip to Kentucky and a recording session with indie-rock legend Robert Schneider of the Apples In Stereo. What came to Kentucky was a band without direction and what left was something resembling a band ready to be actualized.
Song after song, some were kept, some were lost, in the continuous push toward the elusive goal of rock greatness, Baji created a set worthy of being preformed. The Larimer Lounge was the site of Baji’s first gig. With each reverberating chord, and each crashing symbol, the crowd gained a new respect and a new liking for this young group of musicians. Many more sets were played, many more feet were left tapping, and many more ears were left satisfied. The band’s popularity began to grow and it became clear that something was happening when Baji won the Battle of the Bands. As a result, they were teamed up with “nasty” Mike Colin at Jackson Home Studio in West Denver. This recording time enabled Baji to capture its sound. The sound of ROCK. Please enjoy…
