Broken Tongues
Broken Tongues is an innovative, six-piece, alternative hip-hop band based in Denver, CO. The Tongues have a singular, live-instrumental style, crafted through combined years of music study, collaboration and performance. BT’s genre-bending sound is born out of renowned musical influences, including Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Thelonious Monk, Atmosphere and the Roots.
Brothers/producers Mike and Zach Warkentin founded Broken Tongues in 2008, quickly solidifying the group’s lineup with talented and professional Colorado musicians. Broken Tongues is currently recording its new studio album, while continuing to gig in and around Denver.
The Denver Post praises Broken Tongues for their “jazz chops, funk proclivities and smooth flows,” and compliments their authentic ability to lay down "a tasty groove, while emcees Greensleeves and Loose Change kick back with calm and confident rhymes that contrast nicely with “CC” Chambers’s soulful belting."
