In Jalbatross, the latest project from Ryan Jalbert, the classically trained guitarist steps into his own, moving effortlessly into the role of songwriter and singer. Currently the guitarist for nationally acclaimed folk artist, Brett Dennen, Jalbert has performed at legendary venues from Madison Square Garden to the Hollywood Bowl as well as on national TV programs including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and the CBS Morning Show among others. Joined by low end master Garrett Sayers on bass, the pair have produced a seamless collection of adventurous original material. Jalbert and Sayers have worked together for years in various groups including CO based groove outfits The Motet and Kyle Hollingworth Band as well as Grammy nominated R&B artist Dwele – and the familiarity pays off. Bouncy blues guitar and punchy bass lines blend with heartfelt vocals and expansive lyrics into songs that are cultured and current- traditional and transcendental.
