DubSkin
DubSkin
For nearly a decade, Colorado based reggae band, DubSkin, has been writing, recording and performing their unique brand of roots reggae music. Since forming in 2006, DubSkin has independently released multiple ground breaking albums and has shared the stage with reggae giants such as Burning Spear, Stephen Marley, Israel Vibrations, Matisyahu, SOJA and Collie Buddz to name a few. DubSkin has also played some of the prominent music venues and festivals in America including the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater, Wakarusa, Camp Bisco and Summer Camp.

With the release of their latest album Light The Dark, DubSkin continues to push the boundaries of the reggae genre and create music that is not only danceable but also provokes contemplation on the nature of reality, the history of humanity, the issues that face societies today and their possible solutions of tomorrow. By combining soulful vocals, conscious lyrics, catchy melodies and body moving rhythms, DubSkin is blazing a trail of their own in the reggae musical landscape.
Wake Up And Live
Wake Up And Live
Denver guitarist and vocalist Dave Halchak decided to put together a group of musicians to celebrate the music of Bob Marley, and pay tribute to the songs by creating some exciting jams, and throwing one fine party. The result was a show in February of 2013 on Marley's Birthday. The chemistry of this newfound group in rehearsal plus the success of the show inspired this new concept for a tribute band: Wake Up & Live.

Wake Up & Live pushes the boundaries of your normal "tribute" band by taking the music of Bob Marley into uncharted improvisational moments. This and the stellar arrangements create a unique and powerful twist on the Marley catalog. After just a year, the Denver based band has already made their mark on the premier stages of Colorado.

Check them out on Facebook, ReverbNation, Soundcloud or LIVE!
The band features Dave Halchak on guitar and lead vocals, David Lott on lead guitar, Andrew Martin on keyboards, Nick Souder on drums, Neil Ross Hebbert on bass, LaSha Waldroup & Aubrie Hamrick on vocals. There are sometimes featured percussionists, horn players and additional sounds as well so be sure to check them out in your town soon!
Abstract Rude
Abstract Rude
Abstract Rude stands as one of hip-hop's most accessible healers. Since first making regular appearances at L.A.'s legendary Goodlife open mic sessions circa 1994, this MC has steadily found the ideal balance of strong lyrical substance and high entertainment value. Unafraid to sing his own hooks and break out multiple flows within single songs, Ab Rude is one of the most multifarious graduates of the fertile L.A. rap scene. Learning from some of the movement's best, the guidance received from his original group, Abstract Tribe Unique (ATU), along with Freestyle Fellowship and the A-Team (Aceyalone & Ab) has proven to be invaluable.

Abstract Rude co-founded the Project Blowed workshop -- the longest running open mic youth workshop in the world and would later go on to co-executive produce the classic compilation Project Blowed. The groundbreaking album showcased Abstract Rude as a skillful MC capable of expressing soulful sentiments with his mystical themes and deeply pronounced baritone. In addition to highlighting the artistic creativity of an L.A. scene known best for its gangsta rap.

In time, Ab Rude has endeared himself to fans worldwide through consistent touring – most recently with international hip-hop artists DJ Vadim and Yarah Bravo -- and by releasing quality LPs such as P.A.I.N.T in 2001, and Showtyme in 2003 (on Battle Axe). Most comfortable fronting the atmospheric sounds provided by producer Fat Jack on albums such as Underground Fossils in 1997, Mood Pieces in 1998 and South Central Thynk Tank in 1999 (on Mass Men), Abstract Rude proved that clarity in rap is just as impressive as complexity. His work on the Haiku D'Etat projects with Project Blowdians Aceyalone and Mikah Nine in 2000 and 2004, which merged hip-hop with jazzy soul, only further illustrated his music's diversity and ability to capture listeners of various genres.

After recording under the Beastie Boys Grand Royal imprint, Mass Men and Battle Axe, Abstract Rude joins the Rhymesayers Entertainment family with Dear Abbey. On his latest album and first for Rhymesayers, Ab further broadens his medicinal lyricism touching on politics, relationships, and multiple day-to-day issues. And for the first time ever, he worked exclusively with Seattle, Washington beatsmith Vitamin D – who's produced for G-Unit, Redman, Gift of Gab, Lifesavas, One Be Lo, I Self Devine, among others. With the funk-tinged banger "TV Show," the thoughtful MC metaphorically contemplates the damaging effects of the "idiot box." On an equally socially awakening note, Ab effectively plays the storyteller on the soul-stirring, "2 Help or Hurt" -- the engaging tale of a soldier torn between the love of his country and his fiancé. Then on the bouncy "Man Down," Ab aptly declares in a double time flow, "we never fill an album up with one style" as he proceeds to deliver a razor-sharp shot of battle rap. With the ever-shifting subject matter and vocal styles on display, Dear Abbey is further proof that Abstract Rude is a true lyrical heavyweight at the top of his game.
Mikey Thunder
Mikey Thunder
Mikey Thunder likes to party. But more than that, Mikey Thunder just so happens to be the party. Thunder spins a genre-blending, bass-driven partyrock, fusing banging electronic beats with funk, hip-hop, soul, jazz, blues, swing, reggae and anything else the party may call for on the fly. With 19 years in the game, he's mastered the art of improvisation with an uncanny ability to work with and rework the vibe of the party with precision. If you’re a true connoisseur of the Colorado music scene, you’ve seen Mikey share the stage with any number of your favorite artists- no matter the genre.

It all began for Mikey at the age of 15 when he discovered DJing in Springfield , Mass. Thru friends older brother's record collections and the Hiphop scene in the city. From there he moved up to Burlington Vt. and immersed himself in the diverse musical culture. In the fall of 1999, he relocated to the mountains of Jackson Hole where he was soon kidnapped by Michael Franti and Spearhead for the Stay Human Tour. After opening for Spearhead in Jackson Hole, Thunder was handpicked by Michael Franti to open the rest of the tour, where he mixed beats into their sets, during set break, and scratched with their beatboxer, Radioactive.

After the Spearhead tour Mikey relocated to Boulder and continued to pursue his musical career. At that time Thunder also was an Atari playing stuntman/ DJ in the band Sonar. The band shared the stage with the Wailers at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the String Cheese Incident, and played Hightimes Magazine’s SXSW party, and the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. In the fall of 2009 Mikey joined the Pretty Lights crew, opened for over 30 shows on their tours and performed cuts on the Making Up a Changing Mind EP, released in 2010. He also has played the sold out Red Rocks Amphitheater runs with PL in 2012/13/14.

Since that time, he has made his presence known in every single facet of the Colorado music industry. Over the years he has shared the stage with an extremely diverse range of musicians, including (but certainly not limited to): Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, The Disco Biscuits, Boombox, Soul Live, Lettuce, The Motet, Michal Menert, Nightmares on Wax, Mr. Scruff, DJ Krush, Bonobo, Z Trip, DJ Qbert, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Jurassic 5, Slick Rick, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface killa, Red Man, Juicy J, and Big Boi of Outkast. Additionally, he has been prominently featured on such festivals as Shambhala, Sonic Bloom, Snowball, Global Dance Festival, and many others.

Mikey Thunder’s true talent lies in his versatility. Every Thunder performance presents something familiar in an entirely unfamiliar way, as well as something unfamiliar presented in a way that is immediately recognizable as Thunder.
