Town Mountain
Town Mountain
Raw, soulful, and with plenty of swagger, Town Mountain, based in Asheville, NC, recently made their way to the little south-central Louisiana town of Breaux Bridge, where they recorded their fifth and most cohesive, most satisfying album to date, Southern Crescent. Produced and engineered by GRAMMY winner Dirk Powell, the album was recorded in Powell’s studio, The Cypress House. With an insatiable musical hunger, Robert Greer on vocals and guitar, Jesse Langlais on banjo, Phil Barker on mandolin and vocals, Adam Chaffins on bass, and Jack Devereaux on fiddle, Town Mountain blends that perfect mix of energetic bluegrass sound and dance music drive.
Tenth Mountain Division
Tenth Mountain Division
Tenth Mountain Division, the band that is "well known amongst small groups of people", is a hard rock/bluegrass fusion group "RockGrass" with an emphasis on improvisation. Originating from Boulder, CO, founders Winston Heuga (Mandolin) and MJ Ouimette (Electric/ Acoustic Guitar) originally sought to create an acoustic bluegrass outfit. After a few years dedicated to playing bluegrass, the duo decided to transition to an electrified, rock’n’roll sound. Here they found their stride when Ouimette and Heuga collaborated with bassist Connor Dunn, drummer Tyler Gwynn and the ever-talented keyboard stylings of Campbell Thomas. The quintet now creates a diverse soundscape that features the soulful grit of electric guitar and bass while retaining its roots in bluegrass with Heuga’s unique mandolin improvisations and melodies. Tenth Mountain Division has evolved greatly since its inception but retains its roots in the American musics of jazz, rock and bluegrass. Though together only two years, they’ve performed at shows and festivals in Vail, Durango, Boulder and in August 2014 at State Bridge Amphitheater in Bond, CO. They expect to have their first album recorded in early 2015 and continue to play at venues near and far throughout Colorado.
