2nd ANNUAL CORDUROY CLASSIC

We're pleased to share we're bringing back our celebration of friends, good music, and all things corduroy this year to Cervantes' Other Side SATURDAY on NOV. 11TH!

We will be joined onstage by plenty of friends that we hold dear (including Anders Beck and members of The Magic Beans, Eminence Ensemble, Tenth Mountain Division, Emily Clark, Matt Flaherty and more) to play some of your favorite tunes for a unique, one-night, all-night blowout!

Proceeds from the event will be donated to assist victims from this year's hurricanes, so mark your calendars, dust off those corduroy suspenders, and get ready to celebrate with us for a great cause!

Anders Beck
Anders Beck
Anders Beck plays the dobro... or the resophonic guitar as some call it... or the "drop steel" as he calls it. In his relatively short time playing the instrument, Anders has built a reputation for being a unique, creative player that fits into any musical situation with a sound that is strong yet sweet; dirty yet somehow clean. To quote a recent Jambase article, "Anders Beck's moaning dobro got me where it hurts AND heals.".

Anders was a founding member of what may turn out to be one of the most notable farm teams in bluegrass, Broke Mountain. His playing and songwriting helped shoot the band quickly into the spotlight when they won the 2003 Rockygrass Band Contest only two months after forming the band. When the band members decided to pursue other outlets for their music in 2005, Anders was recruited by friend and songwriter extraordinaire, Benny "Burle" Galloway of Yonder Mountain String Band fame, to help create a band to showcase the man's phenomenal songs. The resulting band, The Wayword Sons (uniquely consisting of acoustic guitar, dobro, piano and bass) made one critically acclaimed album, toured coast to coast and played many of the country's major festivals.

In 2008, Anders officially joined Greensky Bluegrass as a result of many late night jam sessions and a clear musical chemistry that could not be denied. He views the band as a sort of culmination of his previous projects in that it involves killer bluegrass pickin' and stellar songwriting. His playing fits incredibly well into the bands melodic soundscape and seems as if it was always there.

While other collaborations are too many to list, Anders has notably played in solo projects with Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon) and Jeff Austin (YMSB), has played sets with The Drew Emmit Band and The Emmitt Nershi Band (Leftover Salmon and String Cheese Incident) and is often asked to sit in with bands ranging from Railroad Earth to New Monsoon.

Aside from music, Anders likes to backcountry ski in deep, deep powder and is currently starting to write his first novel.

The Magic Beans are a traveling band from Denver, CO set out to bring their unique, genre-blending music to the masses and inspire a good time. Their diverse songs move your mind, while tight grooves move your booty when they come to town or through the speakers. Drawing from a wide range of influences, The Magic Beans leave nothing off the table as they combine americana, funk, rock, and electronica into a one sound and sometimes even one composition. Their sound has been described as space funk, ameritronica, and groove grass. The group uses no pre-recorded tracks or samples in favor of a more traditional approach to music: original songwriting, diverse instrumentation, and continually pushing the envelope are what have set this group apart. Seamlessly combining acoustic roots music and traditional instruments with modern technology and electric dance music, The Magic Beans are as unique as their place of origin, the Colorado Rockies.
The Magic Beans have shared the stage with an eclectic group of musicians: ranging from members of String Cheese Incident, Lotus, Leftover Salmon, ALO, The Motet, to acts like Eliot Lipp, Railroad Earth, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Great American Taxi, Zac Deputy, Elephant Revival, Greensky Bluegrass, Split Lip Rayfield, Juno What, Papadosio, & The Werks just to name a few. They’ve performed over 200 shows as group across the nation in venues like; Ogden Theater, Boulder Theater, Mishawaka Amphitheater, Bluebird Theater, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, Animas Theatre, Belly Up Aspen, the Cabooze, George’s Majestic, Parish austin, The Grenada, Gothic Theater, Funky Biscuit, State Bridge Amphitheater, Fox Theater, City Hall, 320South, The Eldo CB, Ghost Ranch Saloon, and many more across the country. The group has a full studio album and live shows available for free to fans at themagicbeans.bandcamp.com and has also put on two of their own festivals and participated in countless charity and benefit events. Look for the groups second studio effort, a double album, to be released early next year.
