From the unlikely beach town of Oxnard, 40 miles north of Los Angeles, the multi-dimensional Madlib quickly rose to prominence as one of the most interesting figures in late-'90s hip-hop. With his childhood buddies in the Lootpack, Madlib quickly made a name for himself as a rapper, producer, and DJ. In particular, his expansive style and deft touch for composition made him one of hip-hop's most sought-after producers. An enthusiastic crate digger, with a deep reverence for jazz and soul, Madlib branched out into a number of ambitious, engaging solo projects.

Along with DJ Romes and Wild Child, Madlib formed the Lootpack in their hometown of Oxnard. The trio made their debut on tha Alkaholiks' 21 and Over in 1993. They continued doing work for tha Alkaholiks and other artists before releasing their full-length Soundpieces: Da Antidote six years later. The album earned solid reviews but went largely unnoticed. Madlib did not, however. After hooking up with Los Angeles DJ Peanut Butter Wolf, Madlib did a lot of production for Wolf's Stones Throw label. In 1999 the label released Quasimoto's astonishing The Unseen LP. Doubling as himself and his alter ego Quasimoto, Madlib handled vocals and production duties on the album, a huge critical success.

Not resting on his laurels, Madlib followed The Unseen a year later with his Yesterday's New Quintet project. Madlib played all the instruments himself, infusing his exploration of jazz with both style and substance.

While continuing on with a massive release schedule and work load, Madlib completed a remix/reinterpretation project for Blue Note, a collaboration with Jay Dee under the Jaylib alias, a collaboration with MF Doom, produced 1/2 of fellow Lootpack member Wildchild's solo record and many other remix and producer tasks all in 2003.

With each year Madlib has continued to expand his abilities beyond the core hip hop that he is known for.
Del the Funky Homosapien

Hailing from Oakland, California comes Del the Funky Homosapien no doubt a true innovator and legend in the world of underground Hip-hop. Del got his start rapping behind his cousin, Ice Cube, as a member of his back-up band and crew. After parting ways, Del ventured out as a solo artist, making music that immediately gained attention. Del's music offered a fresh new outlook on an otherwise gangsta rap controlled California Hip-Hop scene. His viewpoint offered a more detached alternative style laced with humorous rhymes and funky beats. After securing a deal with Elektra Records, Del released two critically acclaimed albums, I Wish my brother George was here ( 1991) and No need for alarm (1993). Despite record sales in the hundred of thousands, his third album, Future Development, was never commercially released. Fed up with the commercialized music industry, Del began working with his crew, the Hieroglyphics, to create a massive independent network of Oakland based Hip-Hop. The crew began to successfully release projects under their own Hieroglyphics Emporium label. Del, joined by a talented coalition of emcees, including Pep Love, the Souls of Mischief, Casual, and Domino, went on to create a critically acclaimed album called 3rd Eye Vision ( 1998). With the release of the album, "Hiero" went on the road and toured incessantly, supporting the album for much of 1998. Since their inception, the Hieroglyphics crew has developed a cult like following, while giving each one of their artists the creative freedom to expand. For his next solo effort, Del demanded complete control and came out with 17 tracks of pure Del funkiness. He handled the majority of the production on the album but also collaborated with some of Hip-Hop's finest including Prince Paul and El-P(Def Jux). The album, titled Both Sides of the brain, again garnered excellent reviews. Rolling Stone magazine commented, "Del's elastic language is the real star here. Rhyming about everything from The Hobbit to Joe Piscopo, he cements his status as rap's staunchly independent lord of the underground and perhaps the best rapper you've never heard." Continuing to grow in popularity, Del would soon solidify himself as one of Hip-Hop's most versatile artists. Linking up with powerhouse producer Dan "the Automator" Nakamura and world-class turntablist Kid Koala, Del helped to create one of the most innovative Hip-Hop albums in recent history. Deltron 3030 received wonderful reviews (4.5 stars from RollingStone) and continued on to further secure Del's place in Hip-Hop history. The ideas and concepts born with Deltron 3030 allowed for the creation of Del's next project, the globally embraced "Gorillaz" collaboration. With Dan "the Automator" Nakamura, Blur's Damon Albarn, Tom Tom Club's Tona Weymouth, Buena Vista Social Club start Ibrahim Ferrer, and Kid Koala working together, the album was an immediate hit. Del's lead vocals on the smash single "Clint Eastwood" helped the Gorillaz sell over 5 million records worldwide. Del has successfully released quality, critically acclaimed material for over 10 years. There seems to be no stopping him and as history has shown. Del's lyrics and wordplay are the Midas touch to his wonderful taste in production. Del the Funky Homosapien has grown from the 17 year-old protege of Ice Cube, to a crafted artist, whose hypnotic voice has transcended the norm, taking underground Hip-Hop to an even deeper level.

Representing Baltimore, MD, USA, JoeNice is universally recognized as the ambassador of the dubstep
sound in North America and has been instrumental in the global growth and success of dubstep for over a
decade. He is North America's first and most respected dubstep DJ.

Joe started playing dubstep in June 2001 with a collective of Baltimore dj's, the 2 Charming Crew. Nice
earned a residency at Sonar Baltimore and was headlining local, regional and national shows shortly
thereafter. In September 2003, JoeNice co-created a monthly internet radio show on GourmetBeats.com. His
show was the first to feature dubstep in North America. In June 2005, while gigging and doing internet radio,
Nice co-founded and was a resident DJ at the first dubstep night in North America, DubwarNYC.

JoeNice is the first American-based DJ to play on the London pirate radio station, Rinse FM. He was also the
first American-based DJ to play the legendary DMZ bi-monthly bash and Forward. In 2007, he was proudly
selected as one of URB magazine's NEXT 100. In July 2011, Nice co-founded and was named a resident DJ
at a new dubstep night in New York City, Reconstrvct. In May 2012, Joe transitioned his monthly radio show
from Gourmetbeats.com to the award-winning SubFM, where his GourmetBeats radio show can be heard on
the second Tuesday of each month, 7pm - 9pm EST.

Since 2001, JoeNice has performed extensively across the globe and his worldwide fan base continues to
grow with his enthusiastic live performance and stage presence, upfront selection and skillful mixing. His bag

Born in Tel Aviv and living in Austin, TX, The Widdler has been playing and producing music since he was 10. Renowned in the American dubstep scene since his inception, the Widdler releases such as Sensei Samurai , Froggy Style, and Lady Dub are regarded as classics in the bass genre. Supported by artists like Bassnectar, Mary Anne Hobbes, Excision, Bukez Finezt, and 6Blocc, member of US imprints Dank 'N' Dirty Dubz, and MalLabel Music, represented by Circle Talent Agency, and most recently signed to Owsla Records, The Widdler is widely recognized as an innovator and originator of dub sound. Constantly practicing, The Widdler incorporates mix sessions into his daily routine, which translates to his flawless performances at shows; headlining with the likes of Doctor P, Reso, Ajappai, and Tipper throughout the world. Currently spending his time between gigs in the studio, The Widdler is working hard to bring the freshest tunes to his fans, with his newest releases to drop in 2013. Taking influence from various genres of music and lifestyle, his tunes comes in all shapes and colors. Bukue One
Tion Torrence, aka Bukue One, is a product of that confluence of underground currents. In Bukue's hip-hop dictionary, there are 5 elements: rapping, djing, breaking, graffiti, and skate boarding. Intromission is the extraordinary album of a true Bay Area original, who in a single leap can pull a 360˚ kickflip, throw up a graffiti burner, and spit a tight verse.

Bukue One grew up straddling the border between Berkeley and Oakland, California. The dichotomy of the leftist college town and the gritty streets of The Town manifested itself musically in Bukue from an early age. "I watched early skate videos that featured music from punk bands like Bad Religion and Black Flag, but my friends were listening to NWA and Run DMC." He was also surrounded by music courtesy of his father, who was a backup singer for Marvin Gaye's touring band. Being a somewhat naïve preteen, he didn't see any contradiction in listening to such dissimilar genres. Living in the East Bay instilled a political consciousness in Bukue from a young age; his parents were both active members of the Black Panther party. So by the time Bukue was entering his late teenage years, he was socially conscious, a talented skater, and a renowned graffiti artist. His love of hip-hop had yet to translate into making music however. Bukue's entry to the hip-hop game came in the form of a live event production company, whose goal was to merge his love of skating and hip-hop. In 1998 Bukue's company, Urban Productions, organized a 4 day hip-hop/action sports festival in San Francisco featuring an a-list of artists, b-boy crews, djs, and skaters such as The Hieroglyphics, Artifacts, Style Elements, Rock Steady Crew, Shortkut, Apollo.Pro, Mike Carroll, Henry Sanchez, and Mike York. Afterwards, Bukue expanded his business into a record label and tour management firm. En route to Australia as tour manager for Aceylone, the hip-hop muse struck Bukue, resulting in "4 Tha Graff Heads", an ode to graffiti culture. As luck would have it, the art of graffiti was in vogue Down Under, and Bukue had a minor hit on his hands. Bukue saw that he could combine his business skill, hustle, and passions to make a sold living; a philosophy cum lifestyle that he has practiced to this day. "I'd like to think of myself as having a blue collar work-ethic with executive skills."

Intromission is Bukue One's first proper album. His previous recorded work consists of a series of mixtapes, including The Last Starfigher (2000). The material for the mixtapes came about on Bukue's many stints as tour manager/ performer with the likes of Blackalicious, Aceylone, Roc Raida, Abstract Rude and Del the Funky Homosapien (whom he also manages). So even though Bukue has been in the rap game for almost 10 years in one way or another, this will be most people's introduction to his work. "Intromission is all about reintroducing good old party hip-hop to young kids. It's me saying that it's okay to dance and smile; there's enough anger out there these days. I'm a party-rocking emcee." This is not to say that there is no substance to Bukue's songs. The 18 tracks on the album reveal his diverse musical and topical influences. The single, "Majah Knock" is an ode to the legendary bass-heavy west coast sound. Bukue knew it would be his single the moment he heard it, but it took a minute to convince producer PH-7 to boost the bass "up to West Coast levels." On "Ready now" Bukue showcases his roots reggae influences, musically and lyrically; "Why do we so heavily embrace the paper chase that wasted space and time? /When did all the madness begin? / Where do we go from here?" The majority of the album was produced in, surprise, Germany. In Bukue's tours through Europe, he developed a love for the sound that German producers were turning out. "The hip-hop culture in places like Berlin and Hamburg now is like the US in the late 80's. In Germany, people are making music to make true hip-hop, not to get rich." Tapping different producers known for their signature sounds allowed Bukue to make an album that incorporates his assorted styles. Krutsch has the reggae, dancehall, and classic hip-hop sound down pat. Flaps is a master of a funky, spiritual sound tinged with a 70's blacksploitation feel. PH-7 provides the straight bangin' hardcore boom-bap. Through all of the stylistic changes, Bukue's flow keeps the album consistent.

This is Bukue One. Emcee, Graffiti Artist, Skater, and Hip-Hop Entrepreneur. So the next time you're at a show and the emcee finishes by ollieing off the stage and skating through the crowd to sell his merch and sign autographs, there'll be no doubt as to what you've just experienced. Chances are that you'll be sweaty from dancing and hoarse from signing along. Bukue One has just completed his intromission as the defender of the five elements of hip-hop.
