Oakhurst performs 1st Annual Rock-A-Wish with The Gristle Gals
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce the 1st Annual Rock-A-Wish event benefiting Make-A-Wish of Colorado! A local favorite, The Gristle Gals, will bring a folky, upbeat vibe that will surely get the night started right. A newly formed (2008) 4-piece band of talented ladies, have a sound all their own that they like to call “Gypsy Grass” – a blend of bluegrass, folk, gypsy, and jazz.
Our headliner, Denver-based but internationally renowned, Oakhurst, will take the stage for a bluegrass extravaganza, the likes of which will keep you smiling for days! With their lighting-fast pickin’and upbeat tempos it will be impossible for you to stand still.
AP Hill (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Zach Daniels (vocals, banjo), Adam “Tarzano” Smith (mandolin), Johnny James Qualley (stand-up bass) and Chris Budin (percussion, vocals) join together to create an Appalachian-rooted bluegrass sound that will leave a lasting impression.
Oakhurst has shared stages with very diverse national talents such as John Mayer, Nickel Creek, The Flaming Lips, Emmylou Harris, Bela Fleck, The Ditty Bops, The Radiators, Junior Brown, Lyle Lovett, and Johnny Lang. They have also shared the stage with future and current Colorado legends as well. The list includes Yonder Mountain String Band, Devotchka, Rose Hill Drive, the Motet, Pete Wernick, Drew Emmit, Billy Nershi and Vince Herman.
