Rapidgrass
Rapidgrass
When a snowflake falls it melts to stream, and eventually meets the creek. The creek then pours down though the canyon and the rapids begin to speak.

The celebration of mountains and whitewater rapids is the inspiration for everything Rapidgrass. Rapidgrass is original mountain music influenced by an active, outdoor lifestyle. Brought together through music and love for mountains, Rapidgrass defines modern, acoustic, Colorado mountain music.

The lineup of Rapidgrass includes Colorado native and pro skier Mark Morris (guitar, vocals); Coleman Smith (violin, mandolin, vocals); Carl Minorkey (upright bass, tenor banjo, vocals); and Alex Johnstone (mandolin, fiddle, vocals). Adjunct players include Billy Cardine (dobro, vocals, recording producer) and Kyle Hauser (banjo, vocals). This font range Colorado ensemble uses classical, gypsy, bluegrass, pop, swing, and other world rhythms to create what is, and can only be described of as, Rapidgrass.

Rapidgrass Music Festival and Rapidgrass the ensemble were twins born of the desire to celebrate the rapids of Clear Creek and the mountains of Idaho Springs through mountain music, each complementing the other. Rapidgrass released its first CD, RAPIDGRASS QUINTET, in 2013 and was voted top 5 mountain albums by the Mountain Arts Culture Colorado. In 2015 Rapidgrass then released CROOKED ROAD and went on to win the prestigious ROCKYGRASS band contest that same year. Rapidgrass is currently producing their 3rd album, HAPPY TRAILS, which is due to be released at the eighth annual Rapidgrass Music Festival this June 23-25. Rapidgrass has had the pleasure of bringing mountain music throughout Colorado, Alaska, the lower 48, and the European Alps. Rapidgrass is eager to kick off their 2017 music endeavors.

Miles Over Mountains
Miles Over Mountains
Miles Over Mountains is an acoustic Bluegrass / Roots / Americana band based in McHenry, IL. Their musical styles range from bluegrass, to rock, to folk, to reggae, to punk and beyond, all delivered in a "not-so-traditional" bluegrass voice. Their live shows are high energy, centered around their arsenal of original material and refreshing variety of cover songs interpreted in their own way.
Only in their first years as a band, Miles Over Mountains continue to turn heads across the nation as they're momentum and touring schedule continue to grow. In 2014-2015 they've performed hundreds of shows at bars, clubs and festivals with no signs of slowing. Besides playing notable Chicago venues such as Cubby Bear, Martyr's, Tonic Room and others, the band also held a weekly residency show at the Abbey Pub from May until October carrying on the longstanding local tradition of Bluegrass Tuesdays in the city.

The 2014 and 2015 festival seasons have seen M.O.M. performing at such fests as Shoe Fest, Down On The Farm, Jam for Jam Music Fest, Frankfort Bluegrass Fest, Byrd Fest, Blottopia, Summer Stomp and more, and sharing the bill with The Wood Brothers, Split Lip Rayfield, Sierra Hull, Blue Highway, Ben Miller Band and a host of national and regional acts. M.O.M. has been the opening act for such groups as Town Mountain, Henhouse Prowlers, Cornmeal, Ben Miller Band, The Big Wu, Family Groove Company and many other longtime staples of the music scene.
Collectively with decades of stage experience under their belts, M.O.M. strives to provide the audience with a fun and freeing experience at each show with unique sets every time. The band released their debut album, "Five Star Heart Breaker" on March 20, 2015.
