Dirty Revival
Dirty Revival
Portland, Oregon-based soul/hip-hop outfit Dirty Revival deliver a sound
that is “Big, gritty, and honest. Our sound is unique but pulls elements
of our favorite genres: soul, funk, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, gospel, and rock,"
says Sarah Clarke, the resounding, and resonating, front woman.

Also comprised of Evan "evv'n'flo" Simko (M.C., guitar), Terry Drysdale
(drums), Karl Ludwigsen (keyboards), Jon Shaw (bass), Chris Hardin (tenor
sax), and Jon Clay (trumpet), the septet delivers powerful soul music that
is equally their own, and reminiscent of their influences, delivering an
intoxicating sound that will make you move. "Someone once described us as
Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, and Rose Royce all
blended up as one," Clarke says of the comparisons her band has already
started to receive. "I nearly fainted. What a massive compliment."
Expanding on that, Simko says, "I think people will find a great variety
of influences or comparisons, to name a few: P-Funk, Aretha Franklin,
James Brown, Bill Withers, Charles Bradley, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu,
D'Angelo, and The Roots. It's hard to say. I think there are so many
influences that it won't quite sound like anyone in particular."

Dirty Revival has recently released their debut, self-titled full-length,
which is a representation of all of the above; a melting pot of influences
and personalities, with all seven members getting their voice, literally
and metaphorically, contained within the sounds of the album. While
navigating different musical waters, the album also vacillates between
fiercely political uprisings to down and gritty party jams that are meant
to make you smile and dance.
Backup Planet
Backup Planet
Backup Planet is a progressive funk-rock band based out of Nashville, Tennessee. To see Backup Planet perform live is to simultaneously travel back in time and forward into the future. Their truly unique sound emanates from a place that seems familiar, yet unchartered. Elements of jazz, funk, roots, blues, electronic, and progressive rock all emerge during the course of their shows. Their sound draws from so much you’ve heard before—‘70s rock and funk, high-energy improv, a touch of pop, and a sliver of metal. But the members of Backup Planet mix and match those elements—with just a hint of modern tech to burnish a sturdy nucleus of retro-minded organ and guitar—in ways that never fail to astonish. With a fantastic repertoire of original songs, they’re able to build fluid sets interspersed with extended improvisation.
Incorporating some degree of uncertainty into live performances is innate to the improvisational, or ‘jam band,’ music scene. Audiences can sense when a group takes major risks onstage; the elements of surprise and unpredictability foster a level of joy unparalleled in other types of musical performances. Masters of this process, Ben Cooper, Gavin Donati, Blake Gallant, and Carson Brown, are doing all of the above while their rapidly growing fan base nods in approval and shouts for more.
Wonderlic is a funky rock band from Denver that has been playing along the Colorado front range for the past 6 years. The lineup consists of an 8-string electric mandolin, guitar, drums and bass. Their high energy shows focus on original compositions and occasional covers that span a mix of genres including funk, bluegrass and jazz. Whether you like to dance or if you'd rather rock, Wonderlic delivers an entertaining show that appeals to music lovers of all ages.
