Artifakts
Artifakts
What happens when gritty electronic basslines meet vintage sample laced hip hop? You get the boom bap sample sound of indie producer Artifakts. Artifakts is the ever-evolving, electronic hip-hop project of Garret Meyer. Ranging from gritty down-sampled soulful stomp to mellow, airy and ambient hip hop, Artifakts has carved out a unique sound that not even trip hop can touch.

Hailing out of small town Newton, Wisconsin, 20 year old Garret began the collaborative project “Artifakts” in February 2012, and was joined by fellow 20 year old electronic producer William Thompson (Charleston, South Carolina) in March 2012. Following a summer festival circuit and live debut, Artifakts released the 11 track “Like This If” beat tape independently, featuring a smorgasbord of vinyl sampled, short electronic infused hip hop and airy trip-hop instrumentals à la Flying Lotus, Michal Menert, and DJ Shadow. Artifakts is set to release an EP in 2013 with sole works from Meyer.

Artifakts has also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the scene such as Pretty Lights, MartyParty (of PANTyRAiD), and Cherub; not to mention plenty of collaborations with producers around the US. With multiple tracks under his belt, Artifakts set himself apart as one of the most sought after new electronic producers around.
Biocratic
Biocratic
Birocratic (born Brandon Rowan) is an NJ-based, NYC-bred bedroom producer and beatmaker. After a few short years spent creating hip-hop headnodders in the shadow of giants—J Dilla, DJ Shadow, and Nujabes, to name a few—Biro has grown his signature sound into an expansive palette that combines evocative samples and vintage synths with airy, complex percussion. A multi-instrumentalist at heart, Biro is equally at home sampling as he is playing and recording. He first reached ears at BuzzFeed’s production offices in 2013, and his ever-evolving catalog of tunes has since been featured in their videos (and many others’), reaching nearly 80 million listeners in the process. Never truly satisfied, he indebts a healthy dose of his inspiration to his surroundings—most notably to his annual summer-long stint in Cape May, NJ, where he develops much of his music. His forthcom ing Replaced EP (Oct 2016) is a vivid watercolor of internal conversations led by a solitary existence in his oceanside hometown. Throu ghout Replaced, Birocratic deftly fuses palettes, painting over crunchy jazz chords and organic instruments with his unique ear for electronic flavor and precision.
Wax Future
Wax Future
Comprised of Connor Hansell, Keith Wadsworth and Jamal Rab, Wax Future is a mosaic of modern electronica. Blending elements of everything from funk to glitch through a live, improvisational lens. Taking from further roots in hip hop and soul, the Philadelphia group is constantly expanding upon its original thesis, while effortlessly maintaining a cathartic focal point of sound.

Coming off a relentless summer of festival performances and club dates alongside the likes of Big Gigantic, Tipper, The New Deal, Opiuo, Freddy Todd, Vibe Street, Brightside and capped by a support play alongside Pretty Lights at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, Wax Future now looks to the release of their make Me Feel Again EP through Adapted Records on October 3rd.

Fall tour dates include: Boston, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; New Haven, Connecticut; Laurens, New York; and Luna Light Music & Arts Festival in Darlington, Maryland, with more dates still to be announced.
Mikey Thunder
Mikey Thunder
Mikey Thunder likes to party. But more than that, Mikey Thunder just so happens to be the party. Thunder spins a genre-blending, bass-driven partyrock, fusing banging electronic beats with funk, hip-hop, soul, jazz, blues, swing, reggae and anything else the party may call for on the fly. With 19 years in the game, he's mastered the art of improvisation with an uncanny ability to work with and rework the vibe of the party with precision. If you’re a true connoisseur of the Colorado music scene, you’ve seen Mikey share the stage with any number of your favorite artists- no matter the genre.

It all began for Mikey at the age of 15 when he discovered DJing in Springfield , Mass. Thru friends older brother's record collections and the Hiphop scene in the city. From there he moved up to Burlington Vt. and immersed himself in the diverse musical culture. In the fall of 1999, he relocated to the mountains of Jackson Hole where he was soon kidnapped by Michael Franti and Spearhead for the Stay Human Tour. After opening for Spearhead in Jackson Hole, Thunder was handpicked by Michael Franti to open the rest of the tour, where he mixed beats into their sets, during set break, and scratched with their beatboxer, Radioactive.

After the Spearhead tour Mikey relocated to Boulder and continued to pursue his musical career. At that time Thunder also was an Atari playing stuntman/ DJ in the band Sonar. The band shared the stage with the Wailers at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the String Cheese Incident, and played Hightimes Magazine’s SXSW party, and the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. In the fall of 2009 Mikey joined the Pretty Lights crew, opened for over 30 shows on their tours and performed cuts on the Making Up a Changing Mind EP, released in 2010. He also has played the sold out Red Rocks Amphitheater runs with PL in 2012/13/14.

Since that time, he has made his presence known in every single facet of the Colorado music industry. Over the years he has shared the stage with an extremely diverse range of musicians, including (but certainly not limited to): Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, The Disco Biscuits, Boombox, Soul Live, Lettuce, The Motet, Michal Menert, Nightmares on Wax, Mr. Scruff, DJ Krush, Bonobo, Z Trip, DJ Qbert, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Jurassic 5, Slick Rick, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface killa, Red Man, Juicy J, and Big Boi of Outkast. Additionally, he has been prominently featured on such festivals as Shambhala, Sonic Bloom, Snowball, Global Dance Festival, and many others.

Mikey Thunder’s true talent lies in his versatility. Every Thunder performance presents something familiar in an entirely unfamiliar way, as well as something unfamiliar presented in a way that is immediately recognizable as Thunder.
