Iron Horse
Iron Horse
Through the years and after involvement with several groups, the present band was born as a result of the participation of Tony Robertson, Vance Henry and Ricky Rogers in the Jake Landers Band. In January 2003, Anthony was asked to fill an opening for a banjo player and the present Iron Horse configuration evolved. Iron Horse creates much of its own music, with an innate ability for cross-genre arrangements. Iron Horse has three self-produced albums, containing previously un-released compositions, and Iron Horse-composed originals.

Iron Horse was approached in January 2003 by Los Angeles-based CMH Records to record a tribute album to the heavy metal band, Metallica, which was released in October 2003. Iron Horse has recorded twelve projects for CMH Records. Tributes to Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourn, Modest Mouse, The Shins, Guns & Roses, The Goo Goo Dolls, Hank Williams, Black label Society as well as others.

The skill and ability of Iron Horse to transpose metal to bluegrass while maintaining the identity of the originals is exceptional. The versatility of Iron Horse is demonstrated by the more traditional flavor of their first CD, “Ridin’ Out the Storm”. This versatility enables Iron Horse to perform such standards as “Rocky Top” and “Man of Constant Sorrow” with little effort, while entertaining “metal-heads” with the familiarity of the compositions of metal and pop icons – all on the same stage
Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs
Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs
Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs have been forging a fresh and energetic sound to the northwest music scene. Their live show is highlighted by unbridled energy, and punctuated by songs performed with fervor and swagger. Fusing old time folk songs with a rock ‘n’ roll attitude, the Bird Dogs push the envelope of what a string band is generally described as. They’ve been hitting the road hard since 2014, sharing stages with Corb Lund, Hayes Carll, hurray for the riff raff, the mavericks, Wynonna Judd, mark Chesnutt, the lil’ smokies and many more. The bird dogs released their first album in the spring of 2016. Recorded live at basecamp studio, the album is one that reflects their live show and makes you want to stomp your feet and crack open a beer.
Born under the big sky in Bozeman, Montana, Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs consist of Matt Demarais on banjo/vocals, Ethan Demarais on bass, Lena Schiffer on vocals/guitar, Brian Kassay on fiddle/mandolin, and newly added member josh Moore on vocals/guitar.
The Matchsellers
The Matchsellers
The Matchsellers are Warsaw, Indiana native Andrew Morris and Julie Bates of Kansas City, Missouri. Their exciting, gritty, and often hilarious stage show has been developed over three years of relentless touring across the US and Europe. Though deeply rooted in bluegrass and old time tradition, the pair’s respective backgrounds in electric blues guitar and classical violin– as well as a penchant for the absurd– offer a refreshing point of view. The group has been featured on various NPR and international radio stations as well as blogs including The Bluegrass Situation, Dying For Bad Music and more.

Bates and Morris met in 2012 while teaching abroad in Leipzig, Germany. They found common ground in the music of their homeland, and hobby turned to profession when they hit the road permanently a year later. Their second full-length album, Songs We Made Up, features the duo’s excellent musicianship, tight vocal harmonies, and wacky world view, ranging from beautiful waltzes to stolen crackers. Watch out for them this year at the Folk Alliance International Conference (MO), the Red Dirt Ball (OK), the John Hartford Memorial Festival (IN), the Wood Tick Festival (MI), the Tri-State Bluegrass Festival (IN), or town near you!
