Dragon Smoke
Dragon Smoke
Dragon Smoke is a band that formed as part of the New Orleans Jazz Fest tradition known as the “Superjam”. The “Superjam” idea is to put together a band of people who don’t normally play together and see what happens. With the dual vocals of Neville and Lindell, matched with the Galactic rhythm section, the band quickly realized, “We are on to something” and has played every Jazz Fest since it’s inception in 2003. This inception took place at the famed Dragon’s Den, hence the name of the band.

The music centers around Lindell’s blue eyed soul , Neville’s funk and R&B, and Galactic’s groove. Besides a few trips to the West Coast, this band has been strictly playing in New Orleans. With everyone in the band being a leader on their own, it is rare to get this band together. And when it does, it shows that these guys are really having FUN! From the interplay between the members, you would think that Dragon Smoke has been playing shows forever.

Dragon Smoke is looking towards the future, with plans to write and record an album and to do more touring outside of New Orleans and the Bay Area. So be on the lookout for the Smoke—IF YOU SEE SMOKE, YOU KNOW YOU WILL SEE FIRE!

Adam Deitch
Adam Deitch
Adam’s career has crossed genres, focusing on hip-hop, funk and jazz, playing the role of both drummer and producer. The son of two professional funk drummers and Berklee grads, Adam first picked up his sticks at the age of two. His first gig was at a school assembly for his kindergarten class.
Adam was inspired by hip-hop at an early age, listening closely to Public Enemy and Eric B and Rakim. Adam began his production career by making loops on a tape deck in his bedroom and has gone on to produce tracks for some of today’s top artists including Ledisi, Matisyahu, 50-Cent, Redman, Talib Kweli, KRS-One and MF Doom.
Adam has done major session work on drums for artists including Justin Timberlake, Daniel Bedingfield, Anthony Hamilton, DJ Quik and Wycleff, Black Rob and Afu-Ru and the Fugees record, sure to be one of the year’s biggest records. Recently Adam has made appearances touring with Pretty Lights, The Game (The Tonight Show), Slick Rick, Lauryn Hill, Pras of the Fugees, GZA of Wu-Tang Clan, Dead Prez, the Ying Yang Twins, John Medeski, Meshell Ndegeocello and his own Fyre Dept as well as being a regular part of Wycleff Jean and Eve’s band.
In his third year at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, he joined the world renowned Average White Band, with whom he performed for the two following years. Adam was featured on the band’s DVD, Live in LA, recorded at a sold out show at the House of Blues, and showed the band was at it’s best. While touring with AWB, Adam performed alongside many of his heroes including Earth, Wind and Fire, Tower of Power and Chaka Kahn.
Adam is a founding member of Lettuce, who has been recording and touring for 15 years. Lettuce features such noted musicians as Eric Krasno, Ryan Zoidis, Sam Kininger and Neal Evans of Soulive, Erick Coomes, Adam Smirnoff (Robert Randolph) and Rashawn Ross (Dave Mathews Band). Lettuce is a funk powerhouse with a cult following from NYC to Tokyo. Lettuce’s third studio record, RAGE! was released in April 2008 to rave reviews and sold out shows.
Adam has branched out from hip-hop and funk, recording and touring with jazz legend John Scofield. Adam has recorded on two of John’s latest records (both released on legendary label Verve Records), Up All Night, for which he also shares composers credit on many of the tracks, and the Grammy nominated Uberjam.
Recently, Adam’s focus has been on Break Science, his electro duo with collaborator Borahm Lee. Break Science club music in the vain of a “Live Mix Tape”, blending live trip-hop, broken-beat, dub, drum & bass and of course, hip-hop.

Melvin Seals
Melvin Seals
Melvin Seals has been a powerful presence in the music industry for over 30 years with a
long-established reputation as a performer, recording artist and producer. Melvin is most
revered for his powerful, high-spirited, Hammond B-3 organ, and keyboards in the Jerry
Garcia Band. Melvin spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band for 18 years and in
doing so helped pioneer and define what has now become "Jam Band Music". From
blues to funk to rock to jazz, Melvin Seals serves up a tasty mix with a little R&B and
gospel thrown in to spice things up.
Melvin and JGB bring an intuitive, expressive style, soul, spontaneity and remarkable
chops to the table. With acoustic and electric ingredients and unique combinations
of Dave Hebert's guitar and vocals, John Paul McLean's savory bass, Pete Lavezzoli's
hearty drums and, of course, a heapin' helpin' of the wizard's magic on Hammond B-3
Organ and keyboards. Along with Shirley Starks and Cheryl Rucker on back-up vocals,
the result is a most satisfying blend of natural organic grooves that challenges genre
boundaries. Their chemistry is the focus from which they create a spontaneous and high
art where the sky is the limit musically. They offer an exciting, often psychedelic musical
journey that changes nightly and keeps the audience dancing and smiling (and some
staring in amazement) for hours.
Adding his rock-gospel-soul-rhythm and blues touch with his funky style of playing, no
wonder Jerry nicknamed him "Master of the Universe". Melvin continues to treat music
lovers to his unique brand of melodic flavor with JGB. Come see and hear for yourself!
Cycles
Cycles
Cycles epitomize the power-trio format with ripping guitar, fat bass grooves played out through furious slapping, and dynamic drum beats flowing over intricate tempo changes. Each member wields a unique take on their instrument that when played together, forms a truly fresh and cohesive sound. Patrick Harvey commands the guitar with speed and precision reminiscent of Jimmy Herring while using his loop pedal virtually as its own instrument, a skill unique only to him. Michael Wood has subtly forged a drum style that showcases his rare ability to mashup funky hip-hop beats with frenzied rock riffs and only displays flashy chops when necessary. At the heart of the band lies Tucker McClung’s dominant slap-bass chops that captivate audiences while pumping the musical blood through the band.

Drawing influence from artists such as Rage Against the Machine, J. Dilla, Primus, Weather Report, and many more, Cycles fuses an eclectic blend of genres to produce an original sound that has become harder and harder to find. Although only two years old, Cycles have over 200 shows under their belt with tours extending across the entire U.S.
Juno What?!
Juno What?!
Juno What?! is a shameless dance party... Formed in 2008, the band has quickly become the leading practitioner of high-energy disco booty jams, and live electro-funk. .. Juno What?! is bringing their illuminated madness to stages across the country. Catalyzing dance floors into sonic landscapes, the band has ignited a devoted following of fans by providing raw, electrifying shows which are devoid of the aimless wanderings of the lesser jam community. Their sound is ahead of its time yet still rooted in the foundation of early-80's dance grooves with a devout appreciation for sternum-bumping progressive themes. .. This is a force to be reckoned with. .. The band consists of Joey Porter (keyboards, talk box) and Dave Watts (drums, samples) from the Motet, and Steve Watkins (keyboards, talk box, bass). This core group is often augmented by special guests taken from the best of the gigging groups on the scene (including founding member Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic). These musicians have gathered their collective talents to focus on this mission of making the world a better place.......to dance!
The Copper Children
The Copper Children
The Copper Children are an indie rock band emerging out of the heart of Denver, Colorado. Their sound is a mix of indie-Americana, intertwined with soul-folk, influenced as much by mountain music as classic rhythm & blues. The band’s expressed musical functions are driven by a contemporary multi-focus genre, in which they challenges conventional thinking and preconceived notions of what soul-folk is, and aims to give an edge to the folk genre with unique instrumentation and songwriting. Through their music, they strive to share their soulful folk tales through heartfelt lyricism combined with raw emotion, all while paying heed to the diversity, peace and sacredness of life, as we know it. Amidst their profound songwriting and melodies, the band has readily established themselves as ‘The Copper Children’ of the Colorado musical forefront.
MLIMA
MLIMA
Emerging from Denver, CO, MLIMA (pronounced-Mmm-Lee-Ma) is a premier jazz fusion ensemble that has established itself on the forefront of the Rocky Mountain’s ever-emerging music scene. Quite literally, “MLIMA” is the Swahili word for “mountain,” which is fitting for a band who self-describes their music as “Mountain Groove.” On September 29th, MLIMA will release their first proper studio effort — a self-titled 7-track record — over a year in the making.

The group is comprised of vocalist Jessica Jones, saxophonist and vocalist Zach Simms, guitarist Jeph Kennedy, bassist Ryan Thrush, percussionist Jack Breitenbach and drummer Lance Croucher. Since their 2012 inception, MLIMA have built a local fan-base through a relentless live schedule. Already, MLIMA has performed headlining dates at the legendary Bluebird Theatre in Denver, as well as the Fiske Planetarium in Boulder, CO. In their time together, the band has graced the main stage at Arise Music Festival, opened for renowned acts such as Shpongle and The Disco Biscuits at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheater, and supported acts like Praang (featuring members of String Cheese Incident), Nigel Hall of Lettuce and many more.

This coming September, MLIMA will release their self-titled debut comprised of 7 original tracks that were written, recorded and produced by the band. The self-titled release features the core group of the MLIMA bringing in Ben Rafferty on keyboard. According to Live For Live Music, MLIMA creates, “ a unique style and sound that incorporates roots in funk, rock, jazz, soul, Afro-beat, jam, and popular culture, and compels even the most stubborn of wallflowers to head to the dance floor and bust a move.”
