DJ noDJ
DJ noDJ
DJ noDJ is a six piece band that formed in early 2012 around a structured hour-long Daft Punk set. Through hard work and elaborate instrumentation, DJ noDJ now performs genres spanning House, Dub Step, and Hip-Hop, as well as an assortment of other electronic/non electronic dance music as a live band. This is done in a style similar to a DJ, with each song flowing seamlessly into the next. To ensure every performance is as unique as it is intimate, DJ noDJ determines their set list in real time picking carefully from their ever growing repertoire of music. With vocal modification abilities, both Charlie Otto (This Must Be The Band/Grood) and Kiley Moore (This Must Be The Band/BabeAlon5) split front man duties allowing accurate renditions of club anthems from artists such as Justice, deadmau5, sbtrkt, and Die Antwoord. This Must Be The Band veterans Patrick Dinnen and Alan Maniacek lock down the rhythm section on bass and drums. Matt Gunsaulus (also a TMBTB veteran) of Chicago’s Origin of Animal is the man behind the synths making sounds that make you go, “whoa.” Dustin Row and Jim Holman split duties from show to show with samples, sound manipulation and auxiliary percussion adding a greater depth to the band. All members currently play or have played in other bands with each other establishing a recognizable musicianship on a professional level. Like DJ noDJ on Facebook and follow them on Twitter @DJnoDJchicago, but most importantly see them live and be sure to put on your dance pants!
Universal Sigh
Universal Sigh
Universal Sigh is a high energy, metamorphic rock show. Hailing from Athens, GA the foursome features a two-guitar attack and driving rhythm section, producing versatile music which reflects a deep fondness for artists such as Radiohead, Snarky Puppy, and Umphrey’s McGee. Influenced by a myriad of musical styles, the quartet has crafted a diverse catalog, which includes both lyrical tunes and instrumental arrangements. Each song is a voyage, with harmonious melodies soaring through epic peaks and dramatic descents into electrifying funk grooves. Fluid and dynamic, the Sigh is equipped with an abundance of compositions to energize any musical atmosphere.

Universal Sigh’s guitarist and drummer Pace and Jones Maynard, developed together as young musicians playing long hours in their parents’ basement. In high school, Jones met songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Steve Terry, and the two took playing together like fish to water. The expansive music scene in Athens paved the way for the band to meet Austin Parker, a soulful vocalist with a love for laying down the bass. Pace, Steve, Jones, and Austin have been at the forefront of all song writing and live performances. However, the band frequently collaborates original music with special guests, including full brass sections, percussion, and guest vocalists. Their openness allows every show to be a special surprise.

May 2016 ushered in the anticipated release of Universal Sigh’s first album, Atoms & Void. While improvisation is a staple component of the live show, Atoms & Void displays a thoughtfulness to innovatively diversify arrangements of rock songs, blues tunes, and futuristic jazz alike. The debut album explores the uncanny nature of song structure and provides lyrical content inspired by the turmoil and beauty of the human condition. The core four presents Atoms & Void, as a material extension to connect the listener to the inherent music within everyone.
Akenda
Akenda
Akenda is an American electronic dance music band founded on the campus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA early 2013. The trio consists of lead singer/keyboardist Melissa Hayes, drummer Kaj Sorensen, and founder/guitarist Bert Cheshire. With strong female pop vocals, intricate dance oriented drumming, fierce guitar playing, and futuristic synth soundscapes Akenda draws influence from across the board to birth a distinct style explicitly their own. The group's trademark sound advanced and matured through several lineup transformations as well as heavy integration of electronic production. The band now blurs the line between modern producer/DJ's and exciting instrumentalists. The original four person roster performed shows regionally throughout the northeast US from 2013 - 2015. In summer 2015 Melissa Hayes joined the band as they embarked internationally for debut performances in Spain, France, and Japan amidst being based out of Valencia, Spain. In 2016 Akenda returned to the U.S. as a three-piece to occupy the rest of the year cooking up their self-titled debut EP and performing shows around the southeastern states. The band gained notoriety when lead singer Melissa Hayes’ voice was featured in a Nike swimsuit commercial January 2017. Akenda’s first full official release will drop early 2018. All tracks were written, produced, and engineered by the band then passed off to Grammy heavyweights Andrew Wuepper (Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Celine Dion, Katy Perry) for mixing and Sterling Sound (Bruno Mars, Babymetal, Wu-Tang Clan, D’angelo) for mastering. Currently residing in Denver, CO Akenda is amassing new fans while carving their name out as a must experience live spectacle!
