Exmag
Exmag
Exmag is for the people!

"It is undeniable that these guys have modern hip-hop originality with the smooth, timeless style of jazz. From their street style to their verging-on Minnesota niceness, there is nothing less than real about these fellas. Always about the music, always about creating, the most attractive part about them ... is their obvious authenticity and raw artistry. Keeping their genuine interests as first priority ... the guys continue creating as a whole culture builds itself around the products of their imaginations."

-EDMChicago

While Exmag and Kanye West come from vastly different genres and career stages, they are making parallel moves in live entertainment by turning the concert’s traditional role in album marketing on its head.

- Forbes

From the sultry vibes of “Go Up” to the funky beats of “Not The Last Time,” the listener goes from hip swivels to full body oscillations. Featuring only instrumentals on this track, Exmag exhibits their love of funk and soul as well as their skill in creating it. Thick and encompassing, “Not The Last Time” is as familiar as it is unique, reaching across genres and audiences. Their playful and uplifting sound can easily enliven any dancefloor, from the sticky floors of a night club to the dusty ground of a music festival.

-Huffington Post, Morena Duwe

"Containing all the right elements of funk, soul, blues, R&B, and electronica, this evergrowing contingent of artists is not just another EDM group, but a production collective who explore new means of pushing the limits by combining live instruments and vocalists with their own synthesized beats."

Empty Lighthouse
jackLNDN
jackLNDN
JackLNDN is one part classical technician and two parts main room club surgeon. He’s simultaneously a mixture of centuries of European musical heritage and a sneak preview of the future. As a producer and DJ, he has quickly established himself as a character whose work is quickly drawing attention for its freshness and whose potential is seemingly endless. In his twenty years on earth, LNDN has spent more time performing and playing music than most do in a lifetime.

Born in the early 90s, Londoner Jack Aisher spent the majority of youth attending Windsor Castle for the Queen. He rigorously trained in classical music, developing a slew of skills: choral singing, conducting, writing, and performing cello, piano and guitar. The immersive education required performing at “8 events a week, 14 hours of rehearsals a week and 30 minutes of training every day before breakfast. It was like boot camp,” he admits, “but so rewarding.”

Then, he met dance music. On a holiday to Ibiza with a friend, LNDN, a teen, experienced proper clubbing for the first time. He reveals, “We didn’t really know what to expect. I went to a club – saw Fatboy Slim at Space. He was standing in for Carl Cox. Every night I went to every single club. Then I started looking hard at the scene,” and began DJing from there.

On his first DJ gig: “I blagged my way into the job – it was a week before NY in Switzerland – I was just talking shit. I learned the basics of DJing in a week. Another guy from a bigger club liked what he heard and asked me to be their resident. It was a ski resort.”

When the ski season finished, he returned to London and was intent on experimenting in the studio and as a DJ. He entered the British Student DJ Championships and got invited to the finals in Ibiza. Soon after, he began spinning student nights at Fabric and hosting his own weekly nights. He has a photographic memory when it comes to records. He “knows every record inside and out” and would “never play a record he doesn’t know, like some track he just downloaded that day and hasn’t even listened to yet.” He may be young, but he has the elder sense of purism usually reserved for jocks twice his age.

“Doing shows in my hometown was a huge deal for me” he confesses. “I was in the booth with some of my heroes watching and learning new tricks all the time”. LNDN has already shared stages with; Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Sub Focus, Kissy Sellout, Ms Dynamite, Doorly, Chase & Status, Pendulum, Mistajam, Skream, Nero, Example, Jaguar Skills, Crookers, Sinden, Zomboy, Joy Orbison and a fair few more.

On the production side, he started gleaning tips from friend Harry Wolfman and combined that with his knowledge of Logic and other bits of his training. Ever since, he has been slaving away in the studio, developing a variety of his unique strains of dance music. The linchpin of the sound has always been house, but filtered through an ever-evolving set of lenses: progressive, pop, jazz, and beyond.

Young JackLNDN is now poised to move large congregations himself. His remix and original production slate is stacked for 2012, in addition to his weekly DJ slots. This classical-turned-dance prodigy has got the musical chops and attention to detail so often lacking in EDM. To call JackLNDN a bright, young voice might just be the understatement of the year.

Put your hands together, come on and stomp your feet. There's a good time waiting for you, so come on and let's get free! -Funkadelic

Shuj Roswell is the latest musical creation of Denver's own, Mark A. Cooley. Releasing his debut album, Flying High Above The World, on Michal Menert's (PLM) Super Best Records label in 2015, he carefully curates vinyl samples of 60's and 70's funk and soul, 80's R&B, 90's Hip-Hop, and obscure movie soundtracks to use as a foundation for his production. Fusing traditional sample based hip-hop with warm analog synthesis and hard hitting beats sets the table for a sound Mark has come to call, Funktronadelic. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, he aims to direct his work towards the "intelligent listener." In an interview with the Untz show, The Late Lunch, Mark said, "I want the listener to take an active part in the music. I would encourage anyone to dig up the samples used to connect with the history in my music and possibly find a deeper meaning in it. Hopefully then, they hear it in a fresh new way. There's so much old stuff out there that’s just not recognized anymore and it's tragic. I love how sampling provides an opportunity to breathe new life into somebody else's art that may have otherwise been forgotten."

Mark is accompanied on stage by drummer and core member, Eric Imbrosciano. Eric comes from a hip-hop, funk, and jazz background originated from his early years gigging in the New York music scene. He injects a whole new vibe into the Shuj Roswell sound from laid back hip-hop grooves to drum & bass breaks. Eric also performs with the four-piece funk ensemble, Jaden Carlson Band and the jazz-fusion quartet, Space Orphan.

Shuj Roswell also performs as a Live Band taking advantage of the following musicians improvisational skills to not replace the samples in the music, but to perform an entirely new musical part over the track. Any or all of the live band members may sit in at a Shuj Roswell show so you're never sure what you might get. This is preferred over labeling a show as a "live band" production. We feel it keeps the audience on their heels, creates a loose vibe on stage, and pays tribute to the jazz style "sit in."

Mark Cooley - Production, Guitar, Mother-32 Modular (Core Member)

Jarrett Allen (J Shook) - MC

Mikey Thunder
Mikey Thunder
Mikey Thunder likes to party. But more than that, Mikey Thunder just so happens to be the party. Thunder spins a genre-blending, bass-driven partyrock, fusing banging electronic beats with funk, hip-hop, soul, jazz, blues, swing, reggae and anything else the party may call for on the fly. With 19 years in the game, he's mastered the art of improvisation with an uncanny ability to work with and rework the vibe of the party with precision. If you’re a true connoisseur of the Colorado music scene, you’ve seen Mikey share the stage with any number of your favorite artists- no matter the genre.

It all began for Mikey at the age of 15 when he discovered DJing in Springfield , Mass. Thru friends older brother's record collections and the Hiphop scene in the city. From there he moved up to Burlington Vt. and immersed himself in the diverse musical culture. In the fall of 1999, he relocated to the mountains of Jackson Hole where he was soon kidnapped by Michael Franti and Spearhead for the Stay Human Tour. After opening for Spearhead in Jackson Hole, Thunder was handpicked by Michael Franti to open the rest of the tour, where he mixed beats into their sets, during set break, and scratched with their beatboxer, Radioactive.

After the Spearhead tour Mikey relocated to Boulder and continued to pursue his musical career. At that time Thunder also was an Atari playing stuntman/ DJ in the band Sonar. The band shared the stage with the Wailers at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the String Cheese Incident, and played Hightimes Magazine’s SXSW party, and the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. In the fall of 2009 Mikey joined the Pretty Lights crew, opened for over 30 shows on their tours and performed cuts on the Making Up a Changing Mind EP, released in 2010. He also has played the sold out Red Rocks Amphitheater runs with PL in 2012/13/14.

Since that time, he has made his presence known in every single facet of the Colorado music industry. Over the years he has shared the stage with an extremely diverse range of musicians, including (but certainly not limited to): Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, The Disco Biscuits, Boombox, Soul Live, Lettuce, The Motet, Michal Menert, Nightmares on Wax, Mr. Scruff, DJ Krush, Bonobo, Z Trip, DJ Qbert, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Jurassic 5, Slick Rick, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface killa, Red Man, Juicy J, and Big Boi of Outkast. Additionally, he has been prominently featured on such festivals as Shambhala, Sonic Bloom, Snowball, Global Dance Festival, and many others.

Mikey Thunder’s true talent lies in his versatility. Every Thunder performance presents something familiar in an entirely unfamiliar way, as well as something unfamiliar presented in a way that is immediately recognizable as Thunder.
