Originally put together in 2014 to play a 4th of July gig in Boulder, the trio realized a unique chemistry on stage. In the summer of 2017, after returning from a year long sabbatical in New Orleans, Strickland has rallied the ensemble back into action.
Vocal melodies conjuring positive vibes, crushing dubby bass lines, and Jyemo-licious world beats.
Green Buddha is Colorado's funky reggae party years in the making and long overdue.
As a DJ, he’s supported numerous international artists including Cojie [Mighty Crown], Iration Steppas, Mungo’s Hi Fi, and Tippa Irie. Since 2011 he has released dozens of mashups and over 50 mixes – including guest spots for Bass Music China, Dub Temple Records, Dub.com, Monkey Radio India, NiceUp, and “The Saturday Skank” (RTHK Radio 3). His 4:20 mix for 2017 has been particularly well-received, with over 20k plays. Since moving, TGT has also found a home at community radio station KGNU, regularly hosting the “Reggae Transfusion” and “Dub Palace” shows.
TGT co-founded the Pomegranate Sounds label in 2017, a creative endeavor with ▶▶△. In December, he released his debut production work on the label with collaborator Scotty McD: the Winter Showcase EP. The seven-track is a dub-drenched journey from hiphop through to downtempo and features guests Hijinx and Mama Kush.
An experienced, versatile, and well-regarded journalist, TGT diligently maintains his own website dedicated to In-Depth Coverage of Underground Sounds, specifically dub, reggae, and local music: TheGrooveThief.com. From 2014-2016 he wrote dozens of clubbing articles for Time Out Hong Kong magazine, and he still regularly covers the reggae scene for NiceUp. TGT’s recently added a new role, editor of the Global Reggae Charts, and has also been developing his own interview series: #TGTfeature.
Whether you need a featured DJ, quality music between bands, or a full sound system setup, TGT is ready to tastefully select from across the dub/reggae spectrum and beyond. Please email TGT (TheGrooveThief@gmail.com) directly for booking, contact, or submissions for radio play.
