George Porter Jr. Trio
George Porter Jr. Trio
George Porter, Jr. is best known as the bassist of The Meters, along with Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli and Joseph Zigaboo Modeliste. The group was formed in the mid 60's and came to be recognized as one of the progenitors of funk then called R&B. The Meters disbanded in 1977, but reformed in 1989. Today the original group still plays the occasional reunions but the Funky Meters, of which Porter and Neville are still members, most prominently keeps the spirit alive.

Toubab Krewe
Toubab Krewe
Some music cannot be found on a map or within iTunes categories. Some music is so original it seems snatched from the great, invisible substrata that runs below all human activity, a sound aching to be born without a flag or fixed allegiance – free, questing, overflowing with immediate, tangible life. This is the music of Toubab Krewe, the vibrant Asheville, NC-based instrumental powerhouse that creates a sonic Pangaea that lustily swirls together rock, African traditions, jam sensibilities, international folk strains and more. While nearly impossible to put into any box, it takes only a few moments to realize in a very palpable way that one is face-to-face with a true original who recognizes no borders in a march towards a muscular, original, globally switched-on sound.
Liebermonster
Liebermonster
To balance the personalities and musical backgrounds of six very different guys, Liebermonster relies on a common understanding that musical experimentation is the core of creativity. This philosophy is evident in the band's broad spectrum of sound, giving listeners a taste of everything from Frank Zappian quirkiness to Middle Eastern slink. The daunting task of tying Liebermonster's dynamic sound together rests squarely on the shoulders of a rock-solid rhythm section with Jim Copeland on drums and Alex Albu on bass. Heading up the crew with an endless well of musical ideas is guitarist Shane Lieberman, accompanied by the reckless wailing of long-time bandmate Seth Garland on tenor saxophone. Rounding out Colorado's best horn duo is multi-instrumentalist Chris White on trombone, with talented Mississippi keyboard player Zach Leach completing the band's current lineup.
