Circus No. 9
Circus No. 9
Circus No. 9 is East Tennessee’s own Progressive Bluegrass outfit, blurring the lines between Bluegrass, Jazz, Jambands, and more. Described as “John Hartford meets John Coltrane,” the group has appeared alongside artists including David Grisman, Bryan Sutton, Larry Keel, and more. Comprised of musicians Matthew Davis, Thomas Cassell, and Vince Ilagan, Circus No. 9 is one of the most exciting new bands on the acoustic music scene today.
Fireside Collective
Fireside Collective
Formed in March of 2014, Fireside Collective is a four-piece progressive folk band from Asheville, NC. Fusing American roots music with original songwriting and energetic live shows, the Collective creates their own sound while paying homage to the past. In addition to folk and bluegrass music, elements of rock n' roll and funk are also represented in the band's wide sonic spectrum.

Fireside Collective came together after songwriter/mandolinist Jesse Iaquinto recorded his debut Kickstarter-funded album, Shadows and Dreams, featuring some of Asheville's finest instrumentalists. "I wanted to capture the spirit of folk music and blend it with contemporary songwriting and stellar musicianship to create a sound that is both accessible and intriguing," said Iaquinto about the record. After completion of the album it was time to put together a band to take the songs on the road. With Tommy Maher on dobro, Josh Bertram on acoustic guitar, Carson White on electric bass, and Iaquinto on mandolin, the Collective has already toured extensively across NC their first year. Alongside the original tracks from Shadows and Dreams, the band also covers a variety of traditional folk tunes, as well as "bluegrassified" pop songs that usually incite immediate smiling, singing, and foot tapping. Every performance is a showcase of the band's inspiring musicianship and raw energy which stems from their mutual love of folk music. Capturing the essence of a late night jam beside the fire, a Fireside Collective show is sure leave you warm inside, without the smoky smell all over your clothes.
