Joe Russo's Almost Dead
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead is Scott Metzger, Tommy Hamilton, Dave Dreiwitz, Marco Benevento & Joe Russo. “Not only does this quintet play tight and vicious versions of some of the most complex songs in the Grateful Dead’s repertoire, but they play them with a rawness & energy absent from the stage since the “Live” Dead era. More importantly, all of the jams are wild and incredibly adventurous. Russo’s a beast behind the kit who’s in the peak of his career. Metzger is a criminally underrated guitarist who has a chameleon-like ability to alter his sound to compliment any situation. Dreiwitz’s intensity is unmatched by anyone, while Benevento spouts these crazy tones and layers of sound that mix the best of what each keyboardist in GD history brought to the band. Finally, add Hamilton, whose voice and biting leads help push this ensemble over the top.” – Scott Bernstein
Born from what was supposed to be a one-night-only star-studded affair in San Francisco in the Fall of 2017, Bone Diggers has evolved into an all-star collective tribute to Paul Simon’s music, performed by some of the nation’s premiere live improvisational musicians. The core group consists of Lebo (ALO), Reed Mathis (Golden Gate Wingmen, Electric Beethoven), Scott Rager (Tea Leaf Green), and Danny Eisenberg (Mother Hips). Joining the lineup for this very special night: Jennifer Hartswick and James Casey (Trey Anastasio Band) as well as Jeff Franca (Thievery Corporation).
From guitar solos that sweep the gamut of his instrument’s range without sacrificing its natural expressiveness, to rhythmic riffs that chank along with the steadiness of a jackhammer, Lebowitz’s playing is as notable for its variety as its laid-back execution.
When Dan’s not busy with ALO, he can be seen performing with numerous groups as both a guitarist and a percussionist. He also recently founded the Dan Lebowitz Group, an act not to be missed!
Jennifer Hartswick is one of the most exciting performers in music today. She inspires audiences all over the world with her powerful voice and commanding trumpet playing. She exudes confidence and joy and brings her own refreshing spirit to the stage every time she performs.
Jennifer's live performances are renowned as spontaneous, joyful and contagious. Her natural charisma and sincerity shines through, and each performance is a celebration of musical collaboration; the camaraderie between Jennifer and her band mates is always visible. And whether she is wailing on the trumpet or singing an intimate vocal solo, her performance is all part of a single seamless instrument, one that is played not only with astounding technical proficiency, but also with sensitivity, conviction and heart.
The Jennifer Hartswick Band released their latest record, Ocean Floor last fall to rave reviews.
Hartswick has been an integral member of the Trey Anastasio Band since 2001 and you can find her performing with rock, jazz and gospel ensembles throughout the world.
Currently touring with the Trey Anastasio Band. When not on stage with TAB you can find him playing with Lettuce, James Casey's Eclectic Collective, and 6Figures...yup
